Long-distance move from Pearland, TX to Little Rock, AR

Recommend Colonial--they were more fair though all are still $$$

Watch out! This company scammed me into a high pressure decision, shortly thereafter increasing their estimate by 35%. Sadly, I allowed a cash debit already that I agreed would be non refundable. Lost $1400+ but after reading how many poor consumers were given lowest-bid movers PLUS $$$ increases, am convinced it could have been much worse! Don't succumb to the high pressure, "hurry-summer-rates-almost-over, been doing this a long time and we are far better than Colonial, Mayflower, etc etc." Once you give them your deposit, you may find (like I did) that no one will call you back if you have concerns/misgivings. I wish they never received my "request a quote" info that pooled them in with others to hustle me.

Long-distance move from Raleigh, NC to Phoenix, AZ

Horrible Company.

I inquired online about a moving estimate. I received a call from this company. I was very specific about what I needed and what I would be moving. I gave a date range, conditions of type of move and asked are you the moving company or a broker. The man I talked to said yes we can deliver on your date, yes we are the movers the truck has our name on it, yes we will honor our estimate and it will not go up. On move day my items were ready and waiting by the door of a storage room I had rented. Movers called saying they were 30 min away. I waited for 2 1/2 hrs before they finally showed. After arriving they said they needed to weigh the truck and would be right back. They unloaded their hand trucks and moving carts leaving me to pay the additional weight for these items. They came back 3 hours later. I waited in 32 degree weather for hours freezing and they would not answer the phone. My items did not show up on the date range agreed to. The company sold my move to another company. The other company refused to honor my estimate or give me any idea when my items would come. I called daily for 21 days and each time lied to by all parties being given different answers. I was told they didn’t know where my belongings were and they would not know until I paid double the estimate and in cash or check no credit card. I was given a drivers number on the 21st day that was a wrong number. On the 22nd day a driver called me telling me his side of the story and that I would get my items in another week if I paid an additional fee for a shuttle truck due to him driving an 18 wheeled vehicle. I explained prior to agreeing to the move an 18 wheeled truck would be prohibited from my neighborhood and was assured that was not an issue and would be included. After calling the company out on all the lies they said well in the fine print it says you are responsible. I will point out I asked specifically regarding each of these items. They also send you to talk to finance and they make you sign and send back on the same call without review. Lesson learned for me. I have contacted an attorney and have begun legal action. Beware and do not use these thieves.

Great.

I had alot of companies bid on my move and they were on the lower end. What impressed me was their great reviews and polite customer service when I called. I don't regret my decision one bit!

We just finished unpacking and all went well. If you get a chance..go ahead and use US Household Moving and Storage.

Pushy, Rude, More Concerned with the Sale Than the Customer.

Spent about 40 minutes on a quote with Dan G building a quote and figuring out dates. They quoted me $3k for a move, and things had been going well. When I wouldn't commit to signing that day, they transferred me to Duke. That's when things went south.

He assured me his 20+ years in the business working for places like Mayflower meant I was getting the best quote. He gave me another $400 off — I thought I was already getting the best possible price? — and said they'd match any other quote I'd find. I told him I was going to keep shopping around, and there's nothing that would make me commit today, especially before talking with my wife.

Literally the next words: Well I wish you would've told me that before you wasted my time.

Then he hung up on me lol.

So, when someone tries to create urgency, convince you that no one else will be as good to you, and then becomes rude when they can't close at that moment, it's a reflection of trustworthiness and character. They guaranteed two things: I'm 100% going with one of their competitors, and I'm going to leave this review everywhere I can.

Good-Bye Goods.

We contracted with this moving broker. They claimed that they had a truck in our neighborhood during the time of our move. They did not. They gave us the name of the broker that they selected. Instead they selected someone else. The Company they brokered us to was Boost Express which generally does small truck load moves in NY and Chicago. Our house was a 4500 sq. foot house. Instead of a large truck they sent out a small truck that did not have a lift. Instead of 4-6 people that we expected we got a small truck and two Ukranians only one of whom spoke English. They took a day longer than necessary. Emergency calls to US Household went to answering machines and were never answered. Our goods were finally picked up and placed into storage by Boost on July 8 with delivery in Texas scheduled for July 19. This far it is August 15 and no delivery and Boost does not even seem to know where our goods are. Stay away from US Household and Moving and Storage and stay away from Boost Express. We will be filing complaints with federal and state authorities and may expect to be involved in litigation if things are not quickly resolved. They are quick to take your money but can not be reached or answer or deliver otherwise. BEWARE!! The Jetts in Texas.

Long-distance move from Columbia, SC to Washington, DC

Unethical company with horrible sales tactics, hidden costs.

I wish I could give 0 stars! This has been the worst moving experience of my life!! This company profits off of scamming consumers with unethical sales tactics and hidden costs! DO NOT ALLOW THEM TO PRESSURE YOU INTO SIGNING THE CONTRACT!!

My original move date was scheduled for 8/20 and did not take place until 9/3. I requested delivery for 9/6 and I'm now being told that it will be 7-21 days until my things are delivered!! I was also charged extra for space even though I moved less than I originally planned and notified them, but they didn't update my inventory. I was charged 2 separate "fuel surcharges" and had to buy my own boxes and pack my own things on the day of the move because I was lied to when I was told the movers would pack my things for me. I'm now about $500 in the hole based on the estimate given by my sales representative named Bob.

I was also lied to by representatives stating that my move was confirmed. One representative even stated at 4:40pm, that my move was still confirmed for between 5 and 7pm. Minutes later, I spoke to the driver who told me he was still 2 states away..if that's not a bold faced lie, I'm not sure what is.

No one ever even apologized for rescheduling the pick-up date 3 TIMES! Bob told me they would do a much better job than the military movers I could have used for free and clearly that was a lie. I wish more than anything that I had used my military movers or even just sold all of my furniture and bought new furniture later! What a huge waste of time and money.

PLEASE SAVE YOUR TIME, MONEY, AND SANITY AND NEVER USE US HOUSEHOLD MOVING AND STORAGE!!

Long-distance move from Bentonville, AR to Denver, CO

Terrible, terrible, terrible.

I wish I could give a negative rating. When we got to our new location, our sectional and cal king mattress were both damaged beyond repair. $5000 total and they could only cover $250 of it. Their joke of an insurance policy covers $0.60/lb and the pounds are based on an estimate they pull out of their ass. There is an option to get full coverage insurance, but you have to tell the company picking your stuff up that you want that option. Did anyone bother to tell us that? Of course not. Oh and it took over a month to finally get their joke of a “resolution”. There customer service is a maze and they treated me as if I were some annoying ex-girlfriend.

Don't ever use US Household Moving & Storage (or any broker).

I learned the hard way - don't ever use US Household Moving & Storage (or any broker, for that matter).

Summary: US Household Moving & Storage used pressuring and bait-and-switch sales tactics to get me to sign a binding estimate. When the actual mover came and gave a price that was more than 2.5 times higher than what was originally quoted, US Household Moving & Storage's only reply was "You signed the binding estimate."

Details:
1. Pressure tactic to sign the binding estimate
2. Movers never showed up on the scheduled move date of 8/29 - I had to call US Household Moving & Storage 5 times on the day of the move before someone followed up with a new move date
3. Bait and switch - deliberately used a low estimate to get me to sign a binding estimate, but the actual costs came out to be more than 2.5 times the original estimate

1. On August 4, I was contacted by US Household Moving & Storage and spoke to an Adam Ross. He asked for information regarding my move, and I told him in as much detail as I could of all of the things I would need to move, including furniture and clothes. I also told him that I would be moving from a typical one bedroom apartment. As someone who was booking a mover for the first time I had no idea this wasn't enough information to provide a reasonable estimate, but not once did Adam ask for photos or videos or recommend an on-site visit. Instead, he gave me an offer (which would later prove to be much too low - see #3) and pressured me to sign the binding estimate right away - otherwise, I would run the risk of not being able to move my things on the date I needed. Again, for someone who was trying to choose a moving company for the first time and didn't understand that this was a pressuring tactic, I decided to sign the binding estimate and paid the company's demand for 50% upfront payment.

2. I was assured by US Household Moving & Storage during the QA call on 8/26 that the movers would contact me at least one day before the move, but no contact ever came (neither from US Household Moving & Storage nor the movers). I called US Household Moving & Storage on 8/28 to complain that no one had contacted me, and an agent told me that I should wait until the actual moving date. On the actual moving date (8/29) no one showed up, and I called US Household Moving & Storage's customer service number 5 times before I was finally able to get an agent to follow up with another moving company. No one from US Household Moving & Storage called me until I called first and I had to be the one to push for some kind of resolution - I.e., finding another moving company. I still don't know what happened to the original movers - no one at US Household Moving & Storage has ever explained to me what happened.

3. On 8/30, when the other moving company (Moving Express & Storage) showed up, the mover told me that the original 350 cubic-sq-ft estimate was far too low, and that he estimated that I would end up having to pay more than twice the original amount. Of course I was shocked and outraged, and when I called US Household Moving & Storage's customer service, the agent asked to speak to the mover. After doing so, the agent told me that I would have to do as the mover said if I wanted to have my things moved, since I had signed the binding estimate. Apparently binding estimates put all the responsibility on the customer and none on the mover/broker. I couldn't refuse because of my schedule (I had a flight the next day on 8/31 and my lease would end on that day as well), so I reluctantly agreed despite my anger and frustration. When the move was completed, the mover told me that my belongings came out to be 1098 cubic-ft instead of 350 cubic-ft, which along with the additional packing material would end up costing me more than 2.5 times the original amount ($6740 vs $2595). Again, I had no recourse but to pay the amount demanded.

Please do not use this company.

I usually do not write reviews but this company begs me to write one due to the extreme poor quality of service they provide.
If you are considering moving with this company, please consider other options. I moved from San Diego to Chicago for my phD program and decided to move my belongings with this company.

The biggest problem I had with them is that they are absolutely unprofessional and dishonest with the time of arrival.
Both with the pickup and dropoff, they would provide you with a 2-4 hour time-frame with the notice that they will call an hour or two prior to arrival. Both times, I would call them during the promised time frame because they would not show up/give me a call, and they basically said they cannot make it THAT DAY. If they knew they were somewhere far or if something came up, it is totally understandable, as long as they give us a heads up. They should have called me before or at the beginning of the promised time frame at the least. They even tried to charge me for the hotel room the driver had to stay at, even though it was the driver himself that called me to ask if he could arrive the next day instead because of the snow storm. Then the driver said he was already 'here' by the evening but because 'I preferred the move to happen the next day', he ended up staying at the hotel, which the company was asking me to pay for. He promised to arrive by 9am next morning. I call at 8am and he says because of traffic he will get here by 9:45. He ended up showing up at 12. This is complete nonsense. They are literally just full of [EDIT]. Tyler the manager has no clue how to handle anything and everyone who works there is obnoxious. They have one phone that apparently works only one way and are unable to locate where the drivers are unless the drivers call them themselves. Basically a really stupid company so please reconsider if you are thinking about using this company. They promised me a discount but this did not happen. Instead they tried to charge us more than what was written on the initial contract.
